The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis is pleased to announce a two-year Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program (PPTP). Applications and online information will be available at www.sf-cp.org by March 2011, and the inaugural class will begin training in September 2011.
The PPTP will offer rigorous, theoretically pluralistic, carefully coordinated training in the fundamentals of psychoanalytic psychotherapy practice. Seminars and case conferences will be held in San Francisco. Supervision will be available locally throughout the Bay Area and in the Sacramento and Davis areas. All PPTP faculty and supervisors are experienced psychoanalytic clinicians.
The 2011-12 first-year curriculum will span 36 Tuesday evenings (6:15-9:30 PM) between September and May. Didactic courses will be taught by Beth Steinberg, Ph.D., Elizabeth Simpson, LCSW, and Adam Goldyne, M.D. There will be four 9-week case conferences led by J. Samuel Chase, M.D., Michael Wagner, Ph.D., Julie Ruskin, Ph.D., and Stephen Purcell, M.D.
The PPTP's central mission is to teach ways of thinking and working that will help each trainee to become a more effective, fulfilled psychoanalytic psychotherapist. For early career psychotherapists, the program will serve as an in-depth introduction to psychoanalytic psychotherapy. For more seasoned psychoanalytic psychotherapists, it will solidify and deepen grounding in fundamental principles.
The PPTP will provide individual mentorship to support each trainee in pursuing his or her individual psychoanalytic interests and in finding a professional home at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis.
