From The Editor
by Luba Palter, MFT
Since this is the beginning of the year, it feels like a good time to revisit some Impulse business.
Impulse is still looking for our next Editor-in-Chief. During my tenure here, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I have connected with colleagues and made new friends while using my voice to express my love of psychoanalytic ideas. I imagine the title of the Editor-in-Chief might sound intimidating or a huge time commitment to some. But I can assure you, my actual experience is neither of those things. Impulse is created by a small but highly competent team of folks who work together seamlessly. A lot gets done quickly. We have systems in place that work well. If you, dear reader, have curiosities about this position, write to me at lpalter@ncspp.org.
I would also like to encourage our NCSPP members to consider our column, Who Is NCSPP? Whether you have been around for a while or just starting out, this is your chance to (re)introduce yourself to your community, at least virtually. As trite as it might sound, many folks are still reeling from the effects of an ongoing pandemic. A number of us are still trying to figure out how to engage with the world while keeping our health and that of others in mind. Submitting your entry into our column is a Covid-safe way to show up. Whenever I have seen a person submit their picture to Who Is NCSPP? I have felt such delight to see a new-to-me-face. “Oh there you are, my community member!” Entries need to be 250 words or less. If you have trouble figuring out what to say, I will be happy to help you. And yes, we would like your picture too.
And lastly, if you have feedback or ideas for improvement, Impulse is all ears and eyes. With the year upon us, your feedback will provide us with an opportunity to reevaluate and possibly reconfigure. Should you feel moved to share your thoughts, you can reach me at lpalter@ncspp.org.
