PRESIDENT'S REMARKS: BETH STEINBERG, PH.D.

This past fall I went through the process of applying for psychoanalytic training. I found this process very intense and thought provoking. Over the next few months in IMPULSE I would like to consider some of the issues — what it means to think and work psychoanalytically, important qualities an analyst should possess, the difference between psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, just to name a few — that this process stirred in me. In the next issue I will describe some of what I went through in writing a personal statement for my application and going through numerous hours of clinical and personal interviews.
