PILGRIMAGE TO SRI LANKA: AN EXPLORATION OF CULTURE, BUDDHISM AND SELF

Join us on this unforgettable two-week travel course in Sri Lanka.  The course offers psychoanalytically-oriented therapists a unique opportunity to learn "in situ" about the irreducible relationship between culture and psyche.  As participant-observers in a vibrant yet unfamiliar cultural setting, participants will explore a wide variety of historical, spiritual, medical, artistic, ritual, and everyday aspects of Sinhala Buddhism.  Course includes visits to Sri Lanka's ancient cities, sacred pilgrimage sites, wildlife parks, top-rated beaches, and an Ayurvedic health resort, as well as a meditation retreat in the misty central highlands and village homestay with a Sri Lankan host family. This unique learning opportunity engages the learner's spirit of adventure, as well as the clinician's keen interest in grasping the complexities of cultural variation in human experience.
