When couples haven't had sex in a long time they often feel hopeless, and therapists often feel unsure how to help them. This presentation will explore how to shift couples from a state of sexual disconnection to a process of sexual discovery.
We will discuss how to understand common dynamics and identify and transform sexual narratives that contribute to sexual avoidance. This includes how to conduct a culturally-sensitive, relational sexual history to develop sexual counter-narratives that enhance sexual connection.
Suzanne lasenza, Ph.D., is on the faculties of the Adelphi University Derner Institute's Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP), where she is Co-Founder of the Sex Therapy Training Program (STP).
