President's Remarks

by Candice Turner, Psy.D.

Happy New Year, Impulsers!

As your Past President, I am still here to keep you in the loop on all things NCSPP, so here are a few updates.

This year the Board will be trying what we are calling a “collective Presidency” with no one person being in the hot seat. We have found that we work really well as a group and like to collaborate together anyway, so you will not be hearing from one President this year but from all of us on the Board. Please, send your best wishes and if this is a disaster, we will let you know in December!

In other news, we sadly did not receive any nominations last year for our Community Service Award, so please, feel free to send one along ASAP. To nominate someone or an organization for recognition, please email us a detailed paragraph explaining why you believe they deserve to be honored. It is not necessary for nominees to be affiliated with NCSPP, and if you have previously nominated someone who did not win, you are welcome to nominate them again.

Thank you to everyone who made it out to our Annual Holiday Party! We had a blast and loved seeing your faces!

Last, but definitely not least, here is a preview of events to come in Spring; get excited! Kinship Object: A Creation Engendered from the Bewilderment of a Pillaged World with Lisa Koshkarian, Ph.D. on Fridays (January 17, 31; February 14, 28; March 14, 2025); The Unconscious Goes To School: A Class about Teaching with Rachel Newcombe, LCSW on Fridays (January 24 + February 7, 2025); Launching Your Private Practice: Developmental and Frame Considerations with Clara Brandt, Psy.D. on Tuesdays (March 4 - 18, 2025); Reading Group: Hating Homelessness: How to Survive When Clients and Communities Resist Change with Brian Ngo-Smith, LCSW on Saturday, March 29, 2025; and the Community Mental Health Spring Hike in Mill Valley on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

We can’t wait to see you all there and wishing you the best year yet!
