COUPLES ON THE COUCH: WORKING WITH COUPLES PSYCHOANALYTICALLY WITH STANLEY RUSZCYNSKI, B.SC.
NCSPP and PCPG are honored to host the 6th Annual Couple Event, October 5, 2013. Stanley Ruszczynski will be joined by Rachel Cooke as discussant and Candis Cousins as case presenter.
Psychoanalytic theory emphasizes conflict and tension in human growth - between love and hate, self interest and concern for the other, the need for autonomy and attachment, and between the wish for and fear of emotional knowledge that might lead to change. Mr. Ruszczynski will discuss how working psychoanalytically with couples leads to an understanding of the intimate couple relationship as containing significant remnants of these aspects of development which may serve as the source of both conflict and love and offer opportunities for further growth for the couple.
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The David Brower Center, 2150 Allston Way, Berkeley.
