NCSPP'S CORNER

SPRING SCIENTIFIC MEETING

THE IMPACT OF TRAUMA ON THE ANALYST'S CONTAINING FUNCTION with Drew Tillotson, Psy.D.

NCSPP proudly presents its Spring Scientific Meeting, April 14, 2012. Join us for an engaging event with Drew Tillotson and discussant Lee Rather.

When a present trauma experienced by the analyst enters the consulting room, the impact on the relationship between analyst and patient is profound. The analyst's ability to maintain asymmetry in the relationship with the patient, to hold onto omnipotent healing fantasies and to contain the patient can shift dramatically. Dr. Tillotson will explore the impact of adult onset trauma and its aftermath in his paper, "Trauma and the Fate of the Angel." Theoretical and clinical material in this narrative of memory, mourning, and integration will be explored to understand the effects of trauma on both patient and analyst.

4/14/12 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., California Pacific Medical Center, 2333 Buchanan Street, San Francisco. Registration: http://www.ncspp.org/listings/2012_04_scientific.html.
