NCSPP ANNUAL EVENT - A DAY WITH ANNE ALVAREZ, Ph.D., M.A.C.P.

Saturday May 10, 2014
9:00 am - 4:00 pm
David Brower Center, 2150 Allston Way, Berkeley

NCSPP is honored to collaborate with SFCP to bring Anne Alvarez, a world-renowned psychoanalytic psychotherapist, to share her innovative blend of theory and technique with the Bay Area. Borne of her work with autistic and hard-to-reach children, Anne Alvarez's ideas illuminate the possibilities for fostering communication that makes profound contact with clients in their most lost and despairing states. With the tiniest of brushstrokes, she highlights the gaps in traditional explanatory and descriptive interpretations and invites clinicians to tailor interpretations to the client's internal world, however barren the landscape.  Through insisting on meaning with clients experiencing dissociated, fragmented, and empty states, Anne Alvarez introduces a new language with which to approach varying levels of development and pathology in children and adults.
