Light lunch, drinks, and social hour to follow at 12:00 pm.

We will discuss working with the adolescent who is ruthless with themselves and sometimes with their therapist. Teens can see the therapist as a judge and can bring that severity to judgments of the therapist. We will discuss developmental dynamics, challenges in containment, and therapeutic approaches to addressing their flipping cruelty. Process material will be shared in small groups so that participants can “be in the room” with the treatment situation.

Presenter: Holly Gordon, DMH is a Training and Supervising analyst who sees adults, couples, and adolescents.
Discussant: Anne Martini, LCSW is a child, adolescent, and adult analyst who has expertise in working with children and families.
