IN THIS CHAIR: THE THERAPIST'S HUMANITY IN CLINICAL WORK 

This year's NCSPP Intensive Study Group looks at the impact of the therapist's humanity on the therapeutic process. Like the negative space in a painting, the therapist's internal and external worlds profoundly influence the clinical picture but may reside in pre-cognitive, affective experiences that can be difficult to utilize.

The therapist's humanity includes the pleasures and vulnerabilities of being in a body in a room with another bodily presence; the impact of relationships that are undisclosed but very influential; participation in socio-political events that affect us all; and experiences of the uncanny that we can't readily explain.

As we immerse ourselves in the relational unconscious, we may fear exposure and losing sight of our patient's experience. Please join us for this year's Intensive Study Group as we explore how to more fully access the richness and potential of this compelling dimension.
