Upcoming Courses & Events
The goal of this course is to introduce students to the theoretical and clinical relevance of Freud’s notion of infantile sexuality, which remains revolutionary and radical even after more than a hundred years. We will focus on specific basic concepts and their usefulness in our everyday clinical work, with ample room for discussion.
We are currently witnessing the rise of fascist-like leaders globally, and, most alarmingly, in Europe as well as our own country. We observe how these leaders and their adherents collude to form basic assumption groups that could swiftly undermine our western democratic values and institutions.
In this seminar, we will explore various psychoanalytic contributions that can enhance our understanding of the totalitarian states of mind that spark these dangerous movements.
Join NCSPP and PCPG for our 11th Annual Psychoanalytic Couple Psychotherapy Lecture as we host David Hewison of Tavistock Relationships. Dr. Hewison will highlight Winnicott's and Bollas’ rich contributions to psychoanalysis and elaborate his own view on how these ideas can be creatively applied to understanding couple relationships. Shawnee Cuzzillo will serve as discussant and, in the afternoon, Dr. Hewison will illustrate his innovative ideas with a couple case presentation.
Join the PLC and Dr. Milena Edwards for a screening and discussion of the Oscar-nominated film Phantom Thread, a period piece set in 1950s London that follows an artist’s complicated romantic and family relationships. Following the screening, Dr. Milena Edwards will discuss the film through a psychoanalytic lens. Popcorn will be served.
NCSPP’s Pre-licensed Clinicians Committee invites you to the 23rd in a series of conversations with senior clinicians in the field of depth psychology. Join your colleagues for a stimulating evening of food, wine, and conversation with Dr. Nicolle Zapien, who will discuss her research on infidelity, consent, desire, ethics and the role of technology in decision making, especially related to decisions around sex.
