NCSPP's Committees

NCSPP's commitees are dedicated to serving the needs of members. As such, they welcome your suggestions and feedback. Please select a committee to more information about each committee's purpose, along with contact information:

San Francisco/East Bay Education Committee
The San Francisco/East Bay Education Committee is responsible for the development of a variety of courses and workshops given throughout the year in San Francisco and the East Bay.

San Francisco/East Bay Intensive Study Group Committee
The Intensive Study Group Committee oversees the year-long ISG in San Francisco and the East Bay. The ISG's are co-sponsored by the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California. Each fall the committee puts on an Introductory Event, usually a day-long program featuring invited guest lecturers who speak to theoretical and clinical themes related to the current subject of the ISG. This event is open to all.

Program Committee
The Program Committee is responsible for the Annual Lecture and for the presentation of various Scientific Meetings. The Annual Lecture is given by an internationally known analyst while the Scientific Meetings generally feature the work of local psychoanalysts and others who are developing new ways of thinking about psychoanalysis.

Sacramento Valley Education Committee (SVEC)
The Sacramento Valley Education Committee was founded in 2001 seeking to form a continuing education program to support a local community of psychoanalytic thinkers who share the desire for study and collaboration. The committee is sponsoring a fall and spring conference along with small case seminars and an ongoing lecture series during the winter.

Peninsula/South Bay Education Committee
The Peninsula/South Bay Education Committee serves the Peninsula and offers classes, workshops, a yearly symposium, and a year-long Intensive Study Group.

Prelicensed Clinician Members Committee
The Prelicensed Clinician Members Committee focuses on outreach to Bay Area psychology students and brings NCSPP-affiliated psychologists to local graduate schools. The committee focuses on supporting professional development, as well as fostering community-building and networking among the next generation of psychoanalytic psychotherapists.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for creating the membership directory, providing orientation for new members, and developing projects that will strengthen and broaden our membership base. Currently this committee is developing activities in the Marin area. This includes the Sausalito Salon Series.

Editorial Committee
The Editorial Committee produces fort da, NCSPP's journal that is published twice a year. We are the only Division 39 local chapter to have its own journal. fort da features articles by local, national, and international psychoanalytic thinkers.

IMPULSE Committee
The IMPULSE Committee produces the monthly online newsletter, IMPULSE.
